Mata Murti Temple is a famous Hindu temple located in the town of Badrinath. According to mythology, Mata Murti prayed to Lord Vishnu to take avatar from her womb .In order to destroy a demon, Lord Vishnu consented and emerged from her womb into this world as twins named Nar and Narayan.
The temple is situated on the banks of the Alaknanda River and is about 3 kilometers from the main Badrinath temple. It is believed that a visit to the Mata Murti Temple is necessary for a successful pilgrimage to the Badrinath Temple.
The temple is surrounded by breathtaking Himalayan landscapes and has lovely architecture. The main deity of the temple is Mata Murti, who is worshipped by the pilgrims. The temple also has idols of Lord Narayana and Lord Shiva.
The annual Mata Murti Mela is celebrated here in the month of September, which attracts a large number of devotees. During this festival, the idol of Mata Murti is taken out in a procession, and various cultural programmes are organised.
