The nearest major city to Kedarnath is Haridwar, which is located at a distance of approximately 225 km. From Haridwar, one can take a bus or hire a taxi to reach the town of Guptkashi. The road from Haridwar to Guptkashi is well-maintained and offers stunning views of the Himalayan mountains.
From Guptkashi, one can take a shared jeep or hire a private taxi to reach Gaurikund, which is the base camp for the trek to Kedarnath. The road from Guptkashi to Gaurikund is narrow and winding, but the views are breathtaking. It is important to note that vehicles are not allowed beyond Gaurikund, and one must trek to reach Kedarnath.
Railway
There is no railway station in Kedarnath. Hence, the nearest railway station is Haridwar, Rishikesh, or Dehradun.

- From the airport, passengers can travel by roadway or take a helicopter service.
- The helicopter will take 2 to 3 hours from Dehradun to reach Kedarnath; this will also depend upon weather conditions.
