About Badrinath Temple
Badrinath Temple is a Hindu temple located in chamoli district in the state of Uttarakhand India. It is one of the four Char Dham sites and is dedicated to worship Lord Vishnu.
The temple is located on the banks of the Alaknanda River. It is surrounded by snowcapped Himalayan mountains. It is considered one of the holiest temples in India and is visited by millions of devotees every year .Badrtinath is also famous for natural beauty .
The temple is believed to build by Adi Shankaracharya in the 9th century, although the current structure dates back to the 18th century. It is made of stone & wooden material and stands at a height of 50 feet Aprrox .
The main deity of the temple is Lord Badrinarayan, a form of Lord Vishnu. The idol is made of black stone and is 3.3 feet tall. The temple also houses idols of other deities such as Lord Narasimha, Kuber, Garuda, and Uddhava.
The temple is open for darshan (worship) from April to November every year. During the winter months, the idol of lord vishnu JI is moved to the nearby town of Joshimath. Joshimath is at lower altitude and the distance between joshimath and badrinath is around 50 kms
